Broughton Astley Cemetery is owned and managed by the Parish Council and located at, Frolesworth Road, Broughton Astley.

Deed of Grant - Purchase, or Transfer, of Exclusive Rights to Burial in a Grave or Cremation Plot

From 1 April 2023 (all fees triple if a non-resident)

£315.00 Purchase of exclusive rights - (single -8ft x 4ft x 5ft or double 8ft x 4ft x 7ft grave)

£150.00 Purchase of a cremation plot (2ft x 2ft x 2ft)

No Fees in relation to provision of an earthen grave in babies' section up to age 1 years

No Fees in relation to provision of an earthen grave 1 years - 18 years

Please note that the purchase of exclusive rights does not confer title to the land occupied by the grave or cremation plot, but the right to be buried there. Exclusive rights last for 100 years from the date of purchase and maybe surrendered at any time on return of the deed to the Parish Council Office.

Interment

The following fees apply from 1 April 2023 (all fees triple if a non-resident)

£175.00 interment of a person in a burial plot - 18 years and over (single -8ft x 4ft x 5ft or double 8ft x 4ft x 7ft grave)

£120.00 Interment of a person in a cremation plot - 18 years and over

£50.00 - Digging of a cremation plot provided by Broughton Astley Parish Council

No Fees for the Interment of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 18 years of age.

No Fees for Digging of a cremation plot provided by Broughton Astley Parish Council for a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 18 years of age.

Headstones and Memorials

Fees with effect from 1 April 2023 (all fees triple if a non-resident)

£120.00 Placement of a headstone on a grave - maximum height 3ft including base when fixed, base dimensions max 3ft x 2ft

£120.00 Placement of a memorial vase with inscription

£120.00 Placement of a tablet or other approved monument on a grave

£30.00 A plaque on memorial wall maximum size 7" x 2"

£100.00 Placement of a memorial tablet on a cremation plot

No charge for the Permission to erect a memorial, including a headstone, for a burial or cremation plot for a person whose age at the time of death did not exceed 18 years of age but not the price of any memorial

£50.00 Permission for placing an additional inscription on a memorial

Please note that headstones, vases, tablets and other monuments must be approved by the Parish Council prior to erection.

Proposed inscriptions must also be approved.

Please complete the Memorial Permit Application and send details of your proposed monument and/or inscription (including dimensions and drawings or photographs) to the Council Office, Station Road, Broughton Astley, Leicester, LE9 6PT.

General Administration Fees

£35.00 - An administration fee will be applied to undertake record searches, documentation transfers, etc.

£12.00 - Every certified copy of an entry of burial in the register books

£12.00 - Electronic register books

Memorial Bench Installation

£60.00 Installation of Memorial Bench by Groundsman (up to a maximum of 12)

The Council Office is next to the Village Hall.

The Office is open between 9am and 1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and closed to the public on Wednesdays and at weekends.
