Severn Trent Community Fund Supports Sustainable Water Supply at Broughton Astley Allotments
New Sustainable Water Supply at Broughton Astley Allotments
The Parish Council recognises the importance of protecting the environment and are fully committed to meeting this challenge. We are aware that all resources should be used as efficiently as possible, so in our drive to make the most economic use of water at our allotment site on Broughton Way there have been two water stations constructed. In addition, six bulk containers have been plumbed into the roof of a large outbuilding in order to collect the rainwater runoff. We are offering free water butts to those allotment tenants who do not already have one. If you are an allotment tenant, here in Broughton, and do NOT currently have a water butt, please contact the parish office on 01455 285655. This project is expected to encourage individual collection from plot holders' own sheds. It's great to see the water collecting so rapidly during the recent wet weather! The Parish Council were absolutely delighted to have been awarded a grant to pay for this project from Severn Trent Community Fund.
